At Nicholas Hythe we believe good design marries the beautiful and the practical to create the perfect dream kitchen for a client. It’s not all about the look (important as that is) but it’s about individual requirements, practicality and ergonomics. On top of that, and perhaps most importantly, we listen intently to a potential client’s wishes about what they want and how they use their kitchen.
So why are we succeeding when many ‘big ticket’ retailers are struggling? As with most successful businesses it’s about giving customers what they want at a price they’re prepared to pay for the quality and service offered. Our long experience told us that what potential clients wanted was to rely on a company that will take all the stress and hassle away from fitting their dream kitchen.
And, in a nutshell, that’s what we do really well! When you start to think about the complexity of fitting a new kitchen and all the trades that have to be managed to ensure it turns just the way you’ve agreed with us, it can give all but the professional supplier sleepless nights!
The 1970s are also remembered for glam-rock, punk and disco and, if you were growing up like I was, the classic must have toys such as the Chopper bike, skateboard and the smurfs! That little wave of nostalgia was brought on by a comment by my brother and business partner after I’d mentioned that the pictures of a kitchen we’d recently installed had a very modern yet retro feel.
Now the memories of the riots are fading and the riotwombles are hopefully a thing of the past, the central message of my blog was about how the Government could help small businesses – like ours and the Reeves’ – to grow and prosper and be central points within our communities.
With so many kitchen companies looking for business, no doubt all doing a job they love and are presumably good at, being successful in these difficult times means we have to bring something else to the proverbial party to win new clients.
As I’ve always said… Regular readers of our blog will know how passionate we are about being an independent fitted kitchen retailer and our feelings on the importance not only to the communities in which they operate but to the national economy too. And for the past few years it would be easy to think […]

You can’t fail notice all the television advertising of new fitted kitchens currently taking place. As regular readers of our blogs know we’re always happy when our larger competitors spend big promoting their kitchen offers. Why? Because advertising creates higher consumer awareness of the sector which potential customers then explore via search engines and find […]
In a week that one of the large DIY sheds reported its third quarter sales figures, expressly pointing out that their kitchen and bathroom sales were down 13% year on year, and the first kitchen adverts that I’ve seen from two of the other major DIY retailers, it’s a sober reminder of how the economy […]
Everybody we speak to about what we do, friends, neighbours, clients, everybody reading this blog will have experienced or heard about the kitchen company from hell. Stories about poor fits, leaky plumbing – you name it we’ve probably heard it. And despite the fact that often all we can do is sympathise, such stories are […]
